Pull the cord, watch the gears multiply the force, and send the propeller flying. The planetary gear launcher is built around a working planetary gearbox — ring gear, planet gears, sun gear — all printed in one run on our Bambu X1C in our Indore workshop.
Two ways to play: snap on the propeller and launch it over 30 feet, or swap in the spinning top and see how long you can keep it going — up to 2 minutes under ideal conditions. The gearbox does the work; you just pull.
Printed in food-safe PLA, hand-finished, and shipped in recyclable packaging. Every part is replaceable — if you snap a propeller, message us and we will print a replacement. No batteries, no screens, no disposable parts.
A genuine way to show kids how planetary gears work without a textbook. The mechanism is visible, the motion is real, and the only algorithm involved is physics.
Frequently asked
- How does the planetary gear mechanism work in this toy?
- A planetary gearbox has three parts — a sun gear at the centre, planet gears that orbit it, and a ring gear on the outside. Pulling the cord spins the ring gear; the planet gears multiply the rotation speed so the propeller or top launches with far more force than a single gear could produce. You can see all the gears moving through the open body.
- How far does the propeller launch and how long does the top spin?
- Under ideal conditions — a clean pull on a flat surface — the propeller reaches 30+ feet and the spinning top runs up to 2 minutes. Real results depend on pull technique and surface; both improve quickly with practice.
- What happens if a part breaks during play?
- Every part is printed on demand in our Indore workshop. If you break a propeller or top, message us with your order number and we will print and dispatch a replacement. PLA is durable for normal play but not indestructible — avoid throwing the body on hard floors.
